Florence was painted on a number of occasions by Shannon, at different periods of her life. Two portraits for instance in a private UK collection depict her in the years after her marriage; and as a young mother with her daughter Kitty. cf. also a portrait of Florence holding a guitar, c.1915, Christie's 7 July 2016, lot 10; and a Portrait of Florence c.1905 (on the New York art market, 2014)
Throughout his career as an artist she provided a source of support and encouragement for her husband.
James Jebusa Shannon was knighted in 1923. After his death, Florence (now Lady Shannon) actively promoted her late husband's work in the UK and the USA where she helped promote a memorial exhibition that toured to museums in Buffalo, Columbus, Cincinatti and Brooklyn
