PIERRE EDWARD DAGOTY (1775-1871)
Portrait miniature of Nathaniel Barton
quarter-length, wearing a dark blue coat and white cravat
signed 'Dagoty' (lower right), circular
2 3/4 in diam; and a portrait miniature by Daniel Saint (1778-1847) depicting his wife, quarter length wearing a white dress and red wrap, oval, 3 1/4 x 2 3/4 in; both miniatures mounted within the same wood mount
Nathaniel Barton (1799-1867) of Straffan, County Kildare was a partner in the family firm of Barton and Guestier. The firm owned a vineyard at St. Julien, near the Gironde, and were producers of Chateau Leoville Barton and Chateau Langou Barton
His wife Mary Susanna Scott was the daughter of the British Consul at Bordeaux. She died in Nice in 1867.
