A 20-Bore Flintlock Pistol By Barber & Boaler, Newark, Circa 1815 With octagonal sighted barrel engraved 'NEWARK' along the top flat, foliate engraved tang with back-sight, border engraved flat bevelled lock (cock and steel-spring replaced) signed in capitals and with safety-catch, figured full stock (fore-stock with old splits and repairs) with chequered rounded butt (bruised above the tail of the lock), steel mounts comprising trigger-guard in the French taste with pineapple finial and engraved bow, shaped side-nail plate, turned ramrod-pipes, shield-shaped vacant silver escutcheon, and later horn-tipped ramrod (steel parts with some old wear and pitting), Tower private proof marks 23.3 cm. barrel Footnotes: Isaac Barber and Joseph Boaler are recorded in Newark, Nottinghamshire, between 1804 and 1816 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
