Set of 8 aviation posters featuring images of Avro Lancaster 1 with detailed descriptions of each part of the aircraft; Handley Page Halifax in the sky; A History RAF Fighter Aircraft with images of various aircraft supported with short articles on each jet; Boeing B17G Fortress A Bit O Lace of the 409th Bomb Squadron, 447th Bomb Group flying from Rattlesden, Norfolk in 1945; Vickers Armstrong Wellington III, served with RCAF, the aircraft was probably flying from its base at Mildenhall when this photo was taken in mid-1942; Lancaster Mk 1 built at Castle Bromwich early 1945 with Merlin 24 engines. Served with 149 Squadron and 44 Squadron; Avro Lancaster Mk III, Rolls Royce Merlin 28 engines; flight schedule for a year with marking in red ink. Varying conditions, creasing, pinholes, staining, tears, paper skimming, handwriting in ink, some small paper losses, tape on the reverse. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): Varying sizes from 45x59cm to 90x63cm, year of printing: 1940s; 9. Royal Navy's largest cruiser HMS Belfast moved up the Thames to her new home in the heart of London. HMS Belfast was launched in 1938 and commissioned in 1939 shortly before the outbreak of World War Two, she struck a German mine and spent more than two years undergoing extensive repairs and improvements before returning to action in 1942, escorting Arctic convoys to the Soviet Union in 1943, played an important role in the Battle of North Cape, assisting in the destruction of the German warship Scharnhorst. In June 1944, Belfast took part in Operation Overlord supporting the Normandy landings. In June 1945, she was redeployed to the Far East to join the British Pacific Fleet, arriving shortly before the end of the Second World War. Belfast saw further combat action in 1950–52 during the Korean War and underwent extensive modernisation in the late 1950s. A number of further overseas commissions followed before she entered reserve in 1963, and turned a museum in 1971. Printed in England for Her Majesty's Stationery Office by UDO Litho LTD, London.
