The canvas appears to be relined. There is what appears to be an old discoloured varnish overall. There is some craquelure, and some slight paint lifting, with paint loss as evident in the online illustration, mainly in the lower left and top right quadrants. There is some old retouching, for example around the face, and around the head. The work would benefit from paint stabilisation and a surface clean.
