WILLIAMSON, Captain Thomas (1790-1815) and Samuel HOWITT (1765?-1822). Oriental Field Sports. London: for Edward Orme, 1807. 2 volumes, 4° (321 x 229mm). 2 engraved frontispieces with half-titles, 40 hand-coloured engraved plates after Williamson and Howitt. (Some spotting and light staining, plate 1 with margin of plate creased.) Contemporary red morocco, covers elaborately decorated in gilt, small gilt armorial centrepiece, gilt spine and edges (front cover of vol. I detached, some rubbing, heavier at extremities.)
The quarto edition of 'the most beautiful book on Indian sport in existence' in Schwerdt's view. An oblong folio edition and an octavo edition were also published in the same year. 6 pages are misbound in vol. II. Schwerdt IV, p. 100.
