Georg Cornicelius was the son of noted porcelain painter Friedrich Cornicelius in Hanau. He traveled widely and studied at numerous academies including the Hanauer Academy, the Academy of Antwerp and the Dresden Academy. His studies took him to Paris, Florence, Venice, Verona and Munich until finally settling back in Hanau. Cornicelius was an honorary member at the academy in Hanau while at the same time running his own private school of painting. Throughout his career Cornicelius continued to paint and display his work at the major exhibitions throughout Germany.
