An Egyptian silver cruet set, early 20th century. Tray size including handles, 17.5 x 7.3cm, height of pepperette 8.5cm, 186 grams. Maurice Jenkins (1933-2022). North Cornwall collector. Maurice was a lifetime collector and started in the 1950s. He opened a shop in Liskeard in the 1970s called Canon Hill Antiques. He visited a number of Middle Eastern countries in his lifetime including Egypt in the late 1970's when his interest in Islamic and Asian antiques began. He was a man with an eye for quality and a love of antiques, history and travel who purchased privately and at auction over the decades. Over a lifetime of purchasing privately and at auction, he created an eclectic ensemble of collections reflecting his interests. He died a few weeks before his 90th birthday and was still buying until that time.

A George V Novelty Silver Pepperette and Mustard-Pot, by Sampson Mordan and Co., London, 1925 each formed as a chick, emerging from a cracked egg-shell, the mustard pot with hinged cover and associated blue glass liner, filled, the pepperette with gilt-metal screw cap underneath70mm high (2)Each fully marked on side. The cover of the mustard-pot further part marked. The marks are generally clear. There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a minor softening to the high points. The blue glass liner is somewhat ill-fitting and is probably replaced. The base of mustard-pot filled. The screw cap under the pepperette with brass fittings.
