A Japanese bronze sleeve vase, Meiji period, with key moulded band beneath the rim and with applied relief moulded dragon clutching a pearl entwined around the body, nine character mark framed by two dragons. Height 30.4 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Base diameter 11.8 cm. There are traces of verdigris on the dragons claw clutching the pearl and along the bottom edge. The pearl within the claw has split and left a 10 mm x 4 mm hole. In general the patination is consistent throughout however there are some small fingernail size rub spots to the upper section at the rear and also all around the base. Otherwise there are no further obvious visible faults.

A Japanese inspired aesthetic armchair, having an ebonised and part upholstered frame with horsehair and sprung stuffover seat, all supported upon slender turned tapering legs. 59 cm wide, 95 cm high, 49 cm deep. CONDITION REPORT: The chair is structurally sound with no loose joints. We can see no evidence of any repairs or restoration. There are no missing sections of fretwork but there are some minor fractures, the most noticeable being beneath the seat front rail. There is a fracture across the top of the second step of the front fretwork section and whilst there is no significant loss here there is movement. All legs and stretchers are in good order. There is some rubbing to the ebonised finish particularly around the sharp edges. The upholstery is generally reasonably good with no holes or significant staining. The seat springing is serviceable. There is slight wear to the tops of the upholstered arms. Generally speaking the chair is in good order.

A pair of Japanese Imari vases and covers, late 19th century, the covers with pointed knops above the inverted baluster ribbed vase, decorated with panels of flowering peony above a false gadrooned border. Height 37.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: One cover is in good order with no obvious faults. The other cover has had the knop broken off and glued. It also has a very fine 1 cm firing crack to the underside of the rim. All items have lost the vast majority of the gilding. One vase has an interior rim chip from top to bottom of the rim and continues a further 4 cm down to the shoulder of the vase. Issuing from the same chip is a small circumferential crack. Both vases ring out nicely when lightly tapped.

A Japanese lacquer four case inro, late Edo, with Hiramaki-e decoration to either side of cranes in flight above gilt and abalone shell leaves, all against a black lacquer ground, with red coral ojime, unsigned. 8 cm x 5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The compartments do open easily, however there is slight vacuum resistance. There is no visible signature. There are three small nicks to the centre at the bottom of the inro and also a further small nick to the bottom edge. The top of the inro case has small surface knocks. The second section down has a small nick on the outer upper edge. There are small surface marks throughout on the lacquer but nothing that is detrimental to the overall decoration. The top section has a small nick to the interior rim. The second section down has small nibbles to the underside interior rim. The uppermost rim of the middle section has small nibbles to the top rim and a very small nibble to its interior underside rim. The second section from the bottom has a small chip to its uppermost interior rim and the bottom section has a small chip to its uppermost interior rim. There is a small section of abalone shell missing to the exterior case. The damage noted is wear and tear commensurate with age and use.

A Longwy French Faience aesthetic plate, 19th century, decorated in a Japanese style with a roundel and fan shaped panel with blossoming flowers all against a busy blue floral ground, impressed marks and inscribed D80. 22 cm diameter, and a Longui Faience sandwich tray, of rectangular form, decorated with blossoming flowers against a blue ground, factory printed marks to the underside, pattern No. 5850. 38.5 cm long. CONDITION REPORT: The plate has a rim to foot rim hairline crack. The underside has large stained patches. The glaze is extremely crazed. The fan shaped panel to the front is crazed and stained. There are no chips to the rim. The tray has large crazing to the central cream ground glaze whilst the blue ground surrounding it has fine crazing. The rim and body all appear to be free from any obvious chips or cracks and there are no signs of any restoration on any of the Longwy piece.
