The Travelling Auctioneers – new BBC show to use thesaleroom.com as exclusive online bidding platform22 October 2021 A new BBC TV series, The Travelling Auctioneers, showing how antiques are sustainable and auctions are accessible to everyone will soon be hitting the screens.
Featuring furniture restorer Will Kirk and auctioneer Christina Trevanion, who will go on the road across the UK unearthing hidden gems and turning unwanted items into winning lots that could sell across the globe, the show will be using thesaleroom.com as its exclusive online bidding platform.
A brand new format for BBC One, it is produced by STV Studios who also created fellow daytime programmes Antiques Road Trip and The Yorkshire Auction House.
The show has a strong sustainability message as Will and Christina identify items and use their expert eye as well as Will’s craft and restoration skills to bring new life to neglected treasures – ready for a thrilling on-site auction.
Will Kirk said: “I’m thrilled to be part of such an exciting new project. Hopefully between Christina and I, we can open up the worlds of restoration and auctions to a wider audience and show people some simple tips to get their prized possessions in pristine condition.”
Christina Trevanion added: “It’s really exciting to be a part of such an innovative new series and working alongside Will. Whether it’s a cellar, a barn, a loft, or the back of a cupboard, I’m really looking forward to uncovering the hidden treasures so many of us have in our homes, and giving them a new lease of life – while making the world of auctions and restoration accessible to as many people as possible.”
The first series of The Travelling Auctioneers will feature 15 episodes. Among the first auctions which are participating in the show is Richard Winterton’s sale on November 1.
