This reverse carved painted panel by Manchester artist Jamie Green is offered at Sworders’ Captain Tom Foundation charity auction ending November 8.

Captain Tom famously raised £38.9m for NHS Charities during the first wave of the pandemic in the UK by walking 100 laps of his birthday before his birthday in late April. He had originally set the comparatively modest target of £1000.

On his birthday he received more than 120 paintings and drawings, mostly featuring images of him.

“I was overwhelmed to receive so many wonderful pictures, there are some very talented artists out there,” Captain Tom said. “We discussed how best to celebrate them all and felt holding an auction would be a brilliant way to share these wonderful pieces with a wider audience whilst also raising valuable funds for causes close to our hearts.”

Pieces are now on offer at a Sworders timed online sale with estimates ranging from £5-5000. The sale ends November 8 (Remembrance Sunday).

Among the works on offer is a piece by Manchester artist Jamie Green, who used a reclaimed cupboard door painted in military green and etched with Captain Tom’s face.
