Daniele Tamagni, (b. Italy, 1975) Lambda C- print Signed sticker on verso, 2007-2008 92 x 66cm (36.2 x 26in) Edition 2 of 10

Framed and Glazed

Daniele Tamagni is an Italian photographer, based in Milan. His Gentlemen of Bacongo series about the `Sapeurs of Brazzaville` won him global recognition and the Canon Young Photographer Award in 2007 and the ICP Infinity Award in the fashion photography category in 2010.

Tamagni`s background as an art historian has led him to delve into marginal street cultures and through his photography document and shed light upon invisible groups and communities around the world.

Whilst he doesn`t only work in Africa, he is one of the few European artists who can be considered to be significant in the African contemporary scene because his work is so respectful of its subjects and so cutting edge in its content.
