The Allan Line was a Canadian company that had the contract to carry Canadian mail across the north Atlantic. Like Cunard and Inman, Allan made stops at Halifax and Queenstown
1876 (11 Nov.) envelope registered from Dublin to Lieut. Col. Annesley of the 97th. Regiment at St. George's, per Allan Austrian from Queenstown to Halifax and per Cunard Alpha to Bermuda, bearing 1873-80 4d. vermilion Plate 15 and 1/- green Plate 12 cancelled "186" and with despatch datestamp at top and Registered datestamp at lower right corner; part of flap missing though an attractive registered franking to Bermuda.
