This line offered direct service between Bermuda and return, whereas Cunard did not, In 1869 after the Inman Line lost the contract, Cunard again carried transatlantic mail
1876 (18 Mar.) envelope, complete with long letter, from Bermuda to Green Co., New York, marked as "per S.S. Canima" though sent by substitute vessel George Cromwell as the Canima did not sale in mid-April, showing fine "new york/due 5 cts" rate due datestamp and marked, on reverse, "Steamers run every week after this trip". A neat cover carried on the only trip of the George Cromwell to the United States. Photo
