Sunil Madhav Sen - UNTITLED(Radha & Krishna)
Sunil Madhav Sen (1910 - 1979)
Mixed Media on Paper
7 x 7.5 Inches
This work shows Sunil Madhav Sen’s deep bond with Bengal’s folk traditions. The figures, possibly Radha and Krishna in a boat, echo the ritual clay images and vivid village scrolls he first encountered as a boy in Bankura.
Sen often painted with watercolour and ink washes that softened the line, yet kept the rhythms of folk art alive. The swirling dot patterns and decorative borders recall alpona motifs and kantha embroidery, layered here with his modernist sense of composition.
