The vessel of lobed quatrefoil section, standing on four tab feet and decorated in ‘famille-rose’ enamels and underglaze blue with two rectangular vignettes, one showing Shoulao and his deer looking up at a flying crane, and the other with two maidens and a boy in a garden, all set within a ground decorated with scrollwork. In the form of a low rectangular table, standing on scrollwork feet, decorated on the top with a central square scene of a landscape between triple pen-rests decorated with lotus, all in bright ‘famille-rose’ enamels, underglaze blue and gilding, the underside covered in turquoise enamel with a four-character Qianlong nianhao written in the centre in iron red.
