Jas Shearwood, London, a silver pair case pocket watch, no.8217. circa 1772. the fusee verge movement with a scroll and foliate pierced bridge cock, a steel three-arm balance, a silvered regulation dial, and square Egyptian pillars, white dial with black Roman numerals and painted with figures in a riverside scene and mountains beyond, the outer repousse case depicting Roman figures within 'C' scrolls, unmarked, the inner case hallmarked London 1772. James Shearwood is recorded in Baillie, G.H., Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World, 1759-80, and with a calendar watch in Science Museum South Kensington and a silver pair case repousse watch in Dennison collection.
