* Ponting (Herbert George, 1871-1935). Seven gelatin silver contact prints from Captain Scott's ill-fated British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13, mounted on two sides of a single album leaf and each captioned in ink (Looking north over the sea ice and the Barne Glacier; Capt. Oates considering the ponies in the stable; A Weddell seal at the ice foot - C. Evans; Looking towards Western Mountains on a calm evening; Erebus from North Bay; Ice foot at Cape Royds; The snout of the Barne Glacier looking south), each approx. 17 x 12 cm (the one of the Weddell seal slightly smaller), oblong folio. Provenance: From a family photo album relating to the family of Sir Sydney George Holland, 2nd Viscount Knutsford (1855-1931), hospital administrator and reformer, chairman of the London Hospital, 1896-1931.
