Massive George III Earl of Darlington armorial silver salver by William Fountain, London, dated 1798, raised fluted rim centering arms of Vane, Earl of Darlington, with Powlett in pretence with motto: Nec Temere Nec Timide, and raised on shaped feet; complete hallmarks.

Other Notes: Arms of Vane, Earl of Darlington, with Powlett in pretence. Made for William Henry Vane, 3rd Earl of Darlington, born 1766 and succeeded his father in 1792. He married firstly, in 1787, Lady Katharine Powlett (d. 1807) second daughter and co-heir of the 6th and last Duke of Bolton.
