A very good example of the 1901 to 1914 Officer’s Home Service Pattern blue cloth Helmet. Gilt Royal Arms helmet plate bearing the title “Royal Army Medical Corps” to the front. Blue melton cloth with gilt rosettes, supporting a velvet backed gilt chin chain. To the crown a ball top. The interior is with leather sweatband. Overall GC Gilt remains bright and fresh. ... Contained in original metal storage tin, this with painted name of “O.R.A. McEwen R.A.M. Corps”.
Attributed to Major O.R.A. McEwen who landed in France with the 2nd Bn Cheshire Regiment on the 16th January 1915. He later served with the 66th Field Ambulance
