A Dutch silver chatelaine with silver pair cased pocket watch with two seals chatelaine, some elements Johan Franken, Enkhuizen 1786, watch, inner case, incuse mark TC, possibly for Thomas Carpenter, London 1790, also with Dutch tax mark for foreign made articles, movement signed Samson, London The central roundel, maker's mark VG device above, possibly for Gerrit van Goethem (1775 - 1811), for Middelburg, with ropetwist rim centred with an armorial in relief, an applied open-work scroll junction above attached to the belt loop / clip, with another indistinct mark, engraved initials F E, with three dependant attachments, each with hinged cast sections, with flowers in relief, and female figures, with two seals issuing from chain attachments, one with shield armorial the other with script initials (with English maker's mark and lion passant), suspended below a silver key wind repousse pair case pocket watch with painted dial, signed Samson, London, and numbered 16606, the movement: gilt full plate fusee verge, pierced and engraved balance bridge with plain 3 arm balance, silver regulation, the white dial with painted centre depicting a nautical scene, black Roman numeral hour markers, black outer minute track with Arabic numeral 5 minute markers, gilt Louis XV style hands, polished inner case also numbered 16606, the outer repousse case with the reverse depicting the God Mars outer case with an inserted paper label for watchmakers 'Dwerrihouse & Bell, 31 Mount St, Berkeley Square, London', length chatelaine 19.5cm, diameter of watch 4.9cm, weight 5.5oz. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
