Four small scale models of 1940-1950 Grand Prix cars, constructed from metal and resin parts, comprising a scratch-built model of Louis Chiron's 1948 Talbot Lago T-26C, (front tyres cracked and split), 20cm long; and three kit-built models of 1940 Alfa Romeo Tipo 512, 21cm long; Luigi Villoresi's 1940 Maserati 8CL, (front tyres cracked), 18.5cm long; and 1950 BRM Mk1 V16 Supercharged, 19.5cm long; each finely detailed and mounted on black base, offered together with three miniature figures. (7) Footnotes: The following 17 lots (numbers 149-165) are from the Nigel Dawes Model Collection at Birtsmorton Court . A well-known car collector and highly regarded silversmith by profession Nigel Dawes turned his practiced craftsman's hands to model making when he retired and preceded to make fine scale scratch-built models of cars when he could not find a kit for them, for those where kits were available, he customised and adapted them to suit his requirements as he built them. Some of the other models were bought readymade to fill gaps in the collection. Which represents the finest examples of motorcars through the motoring ages. Part II of the collection (pre-1940 vehicles) will be offered in the Golden Age of Motoring auction, 4 Nov 2022 at Bonhams, 101 New Bond Street. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
