A good second quarter of the 19th century English gilt brass carriage clock The case stamped B 1041 the case with fixed, turned handle over a recessed circular observation window with slow/fast regulation arc engraved to the edge, the side panels with engraved border, the rear with shuttered winding and setting apertures, raised on turned feet. The underside of the case stamped with a B in a square and the number 1041, with evidence of a key-retaining spring. The 2.25 inch silvered Roman dial with good blued steel Breguet style hands framed by a knurled bezel with a mask of foliate scrolls on a hatched ground. The movement with circular plates repeat stamped B1041 and united by four turned knopped pillars, the going barrel separately mounted on a single footed cock, driving a monometallic balance set in a jewelled chaton to an English style lever escapement on a circular platform. 13.5cms ( 5.25ins) high. Buyers' Premium and Charges

27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
