A GOLD-LACQUER AND PEWTER-INLAID RECTANGULAR COMBINED SUZURIBAKO (BOX FOR WRITING UTENSILS) AND TANZAKUBAKO (BOX FOR POEM CARDS) Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Both boxes sharing the same inrobuta (flush-fitting lid), decorated in gold hiramaki-e and pewter inlay with three stylised cranes on a glossy roiro-nuri ground, extending down to the sides of the box, the interior of the lid and box embellished in mura-nashiji, the writing box fitted with a suzuri (ink-grinding stone) and silver and gilt suiteki (water-dropper) in the form of a cluster of flowers, two sides of the box with silvered-metal fittings in the form of a chrysanthemum head attached with a loose square handle incorporating the tasselled, purple silk cord; unsigned. 7cm x 44.5cm x 10.5cm (2Ā¾in x 17Ā½in x 4 1/8in). Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
