Cecil Beaton (British, 1904-1980) English aristocrats and socialites To include: two portraits of Mary, Countess of Pembroke & Montgomery (1903-1995), lady in waiting to Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent; a portrait of Patricia Harmsworth (1929-1992), later Viscountess Rothermere, a group portrait with her daughters Sarah and Geraldine, and two portraits of her children Jonathan and Camilla, circa 1973; a full-length portrait of Mary Anna Marten (1929-2010), and another group portrait of the Marten family; a studio portrait of Loelia, Duchess of Westminster (1902-1993); a portrait of Lady Diana Cooper (1892-1986), half-length; an edited portrait of Nancy Cunard (1896-1965); a portrait of Freda Dudley Ward (1894-1983); two edited portraits of Lady Elizabeth Cairns (1944-98); three portraits of Charmian Scott (1942-2009); and an engagement photograph of Simon Parkinson-Smith and Kathryn Wadley, the majority silver gelatin prints, some possibly printed later, all with photographer's ink-stamp credit to reverse (21) the largest: 29 x 24cm (11 7/16 x 9 7/16in) This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: Ω AR Ω VAT on imported items at the prevailing rate on Hammer Price and Buyer's Premium. Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories, buyer's premium excluding Cars, Motorbikes, Wine, Whisky and Coin & Medal sales, will be as follows:
Buyer's Premium Rates
28% on the first £40,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £40,000 up to and including £800,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of £800,000 up to and including £4,500,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of £4,500,000.
A 3rd party bidding platform fee of 4% of the Hammer Price for Buyers using the following bidding platforms will be added to the invoices of successful Buyers for auctions starting on or after 6th July 2024 – Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.
VAT at the current rate of 20% will be added to the Buyer's Premium and charges excluding Artists Resale Right.
