A DINGYAO DISH, A QINGBAI TRIPOD INCENSE BURNER AND A QINGBAI BOX AND COVER Song/Yuan Dynasty Comprising: a Ding-type dish with rounded sides rising from a straight foot to an unglazed lipped rim, the interior decorated with a cut single ring, overall covered with a creamy white glaze; an eight-lobed Qingbai box and a domed cover moulded with floral heads on top, the exterior and interior covered in a subtle green glaze, the base unglazed, fitted box; and a Qingbai tripod incense burner, the compressed globular body decorated with six circular panels rising to a faceted neck terminating at a flat, foliate rim surmounted by a pair of rectangular handles, the body supported on three feet issuing from mythical beast heads, covered in a pale blue glaze, fitted box. The colour is achieved through the reduction of a minor quantity of iron used as a colorant in the glaze. Qingbai porcelain incense burners, inspired by the shapes of archaic bronzes, were popular during the Song dynasty (960–1279). These burners typically feature a Ding form, characterized by a rounded body and straight neck. However, Qingbai incense burners with a faceted neck, as seen in the present lot, are very rare.
