A Cased Pair Of Irish 32-Bore Percussion Saw-Handled Duelling Or Target Pistols By Colgan, Limerick, Mid-19th Century With rebrowned damacus twist octagonal sighted barrels each signed in gothic script along the top flat and engraved 'B75' along one bottom flat at the breech, foliate engraved breeches each with gold and platinum lines, long border engraved pointed tangs each decorated with scrolling foliage and with back-sight, border engraved back-action locks each signed in capitals and decorated with scrolling foliage, dolphin hammers (one an old replacement, one hammer-nose repaired) en suite and each with safety-catch behind, figured half-stocks each with reduced spur set with a small vacant white-metal escutcheon on top, chequered rounded butt (some old bruising) each with flat ovoidal pommel, the latter encircled by a foliate engraved white-metal band and with hinged circular patchbox-cover centred on an engraved white-metal oval, fore-ends each stamped '*1556', steel spur trigger-guards each decorated with foliage on the pineapple-shaped finial and on the border engraved bow, adjustable set triggers, white-metal fore-end caps, and original brass-mounted ramrods: in original brass-mounted mahogany case fitted and lined in blue velvet with some accessories including Dixon & Son brass-mounted three-way powder-flask, the exterior of the lid (old central split) with shaped vacant brass escutcheon, Birmingham proof marks 21.5 cm. barrels Footnotes: For J.
