Important Information

In a timed auction, there is no auctioneer taking bids from a live audience in a room. Instead, bids can be placed online, on each lot for a defined period of time. Once the time-period expires, the bidder who has submitted the highest bid wins the lot, provided the bid exceeds the reserve price. Note that the online surcharge is a reduced 3%+VAT.

Max bids (competitive bidding)

As a bidder, you can enter a max bid – the most you are willing to bid, and we do the rest. The-saleroom.com will bid intelligently for you, only enough to meet the reserve or stay in the lead.

End-time extension

Lot scheduled end times are displayed on the individual lot time. Note, lots are scheduled to close in 30secs intervals from each other. These scheduled end times are subject to change should bidding occur within 5mins of the scheduled end time.

If a bid is placed in the final 5 minutes of the lot’s scheduled end time, the end-time will be extended to protect against ‘sniping’ – the practice of bidders placing bids in the last few seconds preventing other bidders responding. Boldon Auction Galleries have set the lot extension to 5minutes, meaning a bid placed in the final 5 minutes extends the lot’s end time by 5 minutes.

Outbid notifications

You’ll see your ‘current bid’ when you log in and view the lot (often it will be less than your ‘maximum bid’). If someone bids higher than your maximum, the-saleroom.com will send you an ‘outbid alert’ via email to let you know, so you can decide whether or not to bid more.

Viewing is by online catalogue or in person Saturday 10th December 10am-1pm, Tuesday 13th December 10am – 12noon.  The sale ends on Tuesday 13th December at 3pm.

Payment is due by Friday 16th December at 12noon.

All lots purchased must be collected by Friday 16th December at 5pm.

Buyer`s Premium 17.5% + VAT

Lots purchased online with the-saleroom.com will attract an additional charge for this service in the sum of 3% of the hammer price plus VAT at the rate imposed

Buyer's Premium is 17.5% (plus VAT).  This is a commission that is paid in addition to the hammer price.

    Printed Catalogue and Condition Reports

All lots carry a catalogue description.  Estimates suggest the price that the lot may reach.  Vendor's (or Seller's) reserves may be set, they are confidential.  Estimates do not carry buyer's premium.  Lots may carry abbreviations such as a/f (as found - considerable damage).  We may note damage and restoration however the absence of such a note does not imply that the lot is without defect.  All clients should satisfy themselves of both condition and descriptions prior to payment.  Any measurements and weights may be approximate.

Any changes to the catalogue after production will be displayed in the Saleroom in a Saleroom notice and will be announced prior to the lot being sold.

Requests for condition reports are accepted by telephone or e-mail and must be received at the latest 24 hours before the sale otherwise we cannot guarantee we will be able to respond in time.  All lots are illustrated on-line at www.boldonauctions.co.uk.
