BRITISH COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, Great Britain, George III, The Bethnal Green Volunteers, Disbanded, Silver Medal, 1814, by P Wyon, inscription within closed wreath, rev Britannia standing on a serpent holding olive branch aloft, 50mm (BHM 833, R3), in original (but damaged) case of issue. Extremely fine, deeply toned and extremely rare. After the Treaty of Paris in 1814 all volunteer corps except the Bank Corps were ordered to disband. The general order took place on 24 June 1814. Lt-Colonel Carrick presented each member of the Bethnal Green Volunteer corps with an example of the present medal.
