The Secret Sharer An Episode from the Coast [by…] Conrad introduction by Ian Watt with three etchings by Bruce Chandler. New York: The Limited Editions Club, 1985. Quarto (10 x 7in; 256 x 182mm). Pp. [i-]vii-xiv[-xvi]; [1-]3-49[-54]. 3 plates by Bruce Chandler (comprised of 2 etched plates [one folding] and 1 drypoint plate). Condition: excellent. Original dark blue handwoven Thai silk binding by Denis Gouey, with inset Oasis Niger goatskin label on the upper cover, lettered in gilt, within original black cloth-covered clamshell box. Condition: excellent.
Limited edition, this a unique ‘binder’s copy’ (so inscribed), signed by binder Denis Gouey. The ‘regular’ limited edition is numbered and (officially) limited to 1500 copies, however the binder recalls that only about 250 were ever bound and the remaining unbound sheets were re-cycled.
