A small autograph album, ownership inscription at the front ‘Leslie N. Laundy / 46. Currie Street / Nine Elms Lane / Battersea . London S.W. 8 / 24.6.36’. Square 16mo (2 ½ x 2 ¾ inches; 64 x 70mm). 80 pages, 30 entries (including mounted clipped signatures), signers include: singer, filmstar and activist Paul Robeson; Australian cricketer Sir Don Bradman; the first Bishop of the Arctic, Archibald Lang Fleming (FRGS); the original voice of Pop-Eye, Billy Costello; entertainer Wee Georgie Wood; airman Victor Ricketts; cricketers Rodney Charles Rought-Rought, J.H. Dyson, S. Bannerjee, Alf Waddington, Andy Sandham, Allan White. Original marbled leather binding (slightly scuffed).
An unusual and quite eclectic group of autographs – probably all collected in London. The page signed by the Bishop of the Arctic is aprticularly intriguing: he has used three different forms of his name. 1. "A.L. Fleming / Bishop of the Arctic"; 2. 'Archibald the Arctic"; 3. his name in Inuktitut syllabics (I assume !).
