Poly Rhythms to Freedom … [Dedication: To the Militant Young Blacks … second printing]. [N.p. but New York:] Mac MacNair publisher, 1967. Octavo (8 ¼ x 5 3/8in; 210 x 138mm). Pp. 1-40. Stapled into red card decorated wrappers, title taken from upper wrapper, portrait of the author on the lower cover (very light discoloration to backstrip). Provenance: Gabrielle & Leroy Haynes (presentation inscription from the author “To (Mr & Mrs) LeRoy Haynes / Around the world on / Black Power – the / beauty is alone mine / Hart LeRoi Bibbs. / 1 K[ing] to another – K[ing]” ).
An important presentation copy recalling the Black artistic experience in Paris in the sixties: excellent condition. Hart LeRoi/Leroy Bibbs “was born in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, in 1930, he died in 1994. This selfmade man started by being a journalist then a photographer, specialized in the jazz scene, before starting his own artistically[sic.] research. He is a painter, a sculptor and, of course, a musician poet.” (RevueNoire.com). “Leroy Haynes (1914–1986) was an expat American restaurateur and actor who resided in Paris, France. As an actor, he appeared in The Butterfly Affair, Bons Baisers de Hong Kong, and Ace High. His restaurant, Chez Haynes was a well known and iconic restaurant which would be visited by well known actors and entertainers.” (Wikipedia).
