This second impression copy was printed a month after the first edition of June 1930. It has an "Xmas 1930" inscription on the front pastedown (which also carries the ticket of Fairbrother's Durban "Bookseller, Stationer and Tobacconist").
Loosely inserted is a near-complete but damaged copy of the sought-after original two-colour dustjacket.
Tan cloth-boards with black lettering to the upper panel and spine, plain endpapers, inserted photogravure portrait frontispiece of Field Marshal Plumer with tissue guard, 2 other inserted plates with tissue-guards + vii pp + more than one hundred unnumbered leaves, followed by the colophon "Sherwood Forester and Co, Printers and Publishers, B[ritish] E[expeditionary] F[orce].
