Original vintage advertising poster celebrating the superior quality of Terrot bikes through its team and rider wins in France and abroad across Europe and North Africa - Everywhere... it's the triumph of Terrot quality / Partout... c'est le triomphe de la qualite Terrot - including Lauredi's first place victory at the Criterium du Dauphine, Schmitz's first place victory at the Tour du Luxembourg, Amelynck's first place victory at the Tour de Tunisie and Rosseel's first place victory at the Tour du Nord - over 6,500 kms in the Alps and on the roads in the South and North. Dynamic design featuring a black and white photograph of the riders celebrating with the team holding up a winner on their shoulders, the text above and below in stylised red and green letters. The motorcycle and bicycle manufacturer Terrot was based in Dijon France; the company was founded as a machinery factory in 1862, making bicycles from 1890 and motorcycles from 1902; Terrot was taken over by Peugeot in 1958 and the factory closed in 1961. Nello Lauredi (1924-2001), Jean-Pierre Schmitz (b 1932), Etienne Amelynck (b 1934) and Andre Rosseel (1924-1965) were all multiple Tour de France stage winners; Charly Gaul (1932-2005) was a slaughterman in an abattoir who became a professional cyclist with Terrot in 1953, later winning the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia (socially awkward, he stopped cycling in 1965 and became a recluse, living in a forest hut until 1983, being recognised by both the Luxembourg government and the Tour de France in 1989). Printed in France by Affiches Gaillard, Paris. Good condition, folds, creases and browning on fold lines. Country of issue: France, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 60x39.5, year of printing: 1954.
