Set of eight original vintage exhibition advertising posters. 1.Art Nouveau Textiles, organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum's Circulation Department. Until its closure in 1977, the Circulation Department was responsible for loan shows that travelled to two categories of venue to regional museums, art galleries and public libraries, and to art schools and education colleges; thus disseminating art and design across the UK. At the time, it could be considered the oldest such institution for the preparation of travelling exhibitions of museum material in the world, originating as part of the Design Reform initiative centred on the Government Schools of Design at Marlborough House. The poster features a pink and purple floral pattern of leaves and petals. Printed for HMSO by Moore and Matthes LTD. Excellent condition. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 74x48, year of printing: 1970s.; 2. James Abbott McNeill Whistler Etchings & Lithographs travelling exhibition arranged by the Circulation Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum, featuring an image of a gentleman, presumably self portrait, in a hat set over light background. James Whistler (1834-1903) was an American painter, founder of Tonalism. Very good condition, creasing. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 74x48, year of printing: 1980s.; 3. The Rural Chair, organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum's Circulation Department. The poster features a photograph of a wooden chair set over olive background with white lettering above and brown lettering below the chair. Printed for HMSO by Moore and Matthews LTD. Good condition, creasing, staining. Country of issue: UK, designer: Peter Branfield , size (cm): 73x48, year of printing: 1970s.; 4. Art Nouveau Pewter, a travelling exhibition arranged by the Circulation Department of the Victoria and Albert Museum, featuring a photograph of a silver pewter with grape vine pattern set over green background. Printed for HMSO by Moore and Matthews LTD. Very good condition, minor creasing. Country of issue: UK, designer: Peter Branfield , size (cm): 73x48, year of printing: 1970s.; 5. Dutch painter Caesar van Everdingen (1616/17-1678) depicting a little boy dressed in a white and grey dress, and a hat adorned with yellow tassels, seen holding an apple in one hand and a bird in the other. Very good condition, creasing. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 81x56, year of printing: 1980s.; 6. Ceramics by Barbara Balls from 2-21 December at The Central Library in Great Yarmouth, featuring an illustration in black and white set over light background. Good condition, creasing, small tears, minor staining. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 79x50, year of printing: 1970s.; 7. Arts of ancient Rome, organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum's Circulation Department from material lent by the trustees of the British Museum. The poster features the head/ bust of an ancient Roman sculpture in black and white. Excellent condition. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 74x48, year of printing: 1970s.; 8. Jeremy Cooper Limited Fine and Decorative Arts 1830-1940 featuring a photograph of George V, Queen Victoria, Edward VII, Edward VIII and Prince Albert visit Jeremy Cooper’s new premises. The poster was issued to advertise an exhibition of a large selection of ceramics, furniture, prints, textiles, water colours, toys, bronzes. Good condition, creasing, staining, tears, discolouration. Country of issue: UK, designer: Unknown, size (cm): 76x50, year of printing: 1940.
