A fine late 19th century ivory and silver mounted presentation baton, with embossed silver top and band inscribed "Presented to Lieut. A.B Woodcock, Band Master, Pretoria Volunteer Cavalry by the Members of the Band 19.3.96" in fitted case. Provenance: given to John Brice Jenkins (1876-1923) in recognition of his work during the war-whilst serving in France in WWI he raised a Welsh Choral party from the trenches which toured the greater part of the country. It has passed through the family to the current vendor.
