Founded in 1842, the Glasgow based company has welcomed a host of high-profile names over the years with legendary Scottish philanthropist, William Burrell, a frequent visitor to the auction house in earlier days.

In more recent times McTear’s has extended its reach, building an impressive database of buyers and sellers in over a hundred countries across the globe. Under the guidance of an experienced team of specialists, McTear’s departments have grown significantly over the years. McTear’s takes its role within the community extremely seriously and over the years has supported a number of good causes including Marie Curie Cancer Care, Glasgow Women's Aid and the Ardgowan Hospice, amongst others. Everything sold by the auction house on behalf of a registered charity is sold without commission.

McTear's Head Office and Auction Galleries are situated just south of the Clyde Tunnel adjacent to the M8 motorway. The Galleries are open every weekday from 8.30am until 5pm and on Saturday mornings. The facilities at McTear’s Galleries boast a private car park and café.
