Description
Patrick Graham (b.1943) UNTITLED [COLLATERAL SERIES], 2003/2004 watercolour over pencil with collage element indistinctly signed and dated on figure's shoulder upper right 31 x 43½in. (78.74 x 110.49cm) Boyle Arts Festival, 2006;Private collection "In 2005 Patrick Graham showed Collateral Series in the Hillsboro Fine Art Gallery, Dublin, an exhibition which comprised raw and beautiful drawings pieced together out of sketches. The present work falls into this body of work which had formed the basis of other earlier shows with; the Green on Red Gallery, the RHA, the Civic Theatre and the Jack Rutberg Gallery in Los Angeles. In his review of the exhibition for Circa Art Magazine (27 October 2005) Thomas Brezing described the series thus: This work looks like it has been stitched together after a high number of long nights filled with vivid dreams. It is as if he [Graham] had been sleeping with pen and paper beside him, scribbling and jotting things down in the dark after every dream that woke him, and then the next day trying to make sense of it all by putting the jigsaw together."""""
