Prendergast was awarded the Premio 2000 for the best young artist at the Venice Biennale. Her work has been shown at the Tate London, her 1999 solo exhibition at IMMA was acquired in its entirety for their permanent collection and she has since exhibited widely in various venues including Sydney Biennale, ICA, Boston, Drawing Centre, New York, Kerlin Gallery 2007 and 2009, and Peer, London, 2010.
