A Rare Yellow Jade Bowl, 18th Century
清 十八世纪 黄玉光素盌
Exquisitely worked with deep rounded sides rising from a short footring to a flared rim, the stone of lustrous imperial yellow tone. The absence of decoration draws the eye closer to the quality of the stone itself, particularly its colour and translucency. This aesthetic was popularly favoured by the Qing Court and the Qianlong Emperor himself. Starting in the Ming dynasty, yellow jade was recognized by scholars and connoisseurs as one of the most valued variations of nephrite., depth 3.8 in — 9.7 cm
