Edosa Ogiugo, (b. Nigeria, 1961) Charcoal drawing on paper Signed "Edosa Ogiugo” and dated 2012, (lower left) 71 x 51cm (28 x 20.1in)
Framed and glazed
Born in 1961 in Ibadan, Nigeria. Edosa Ogiugo trained at the Yaba College of Technology and worked in advertising between 1986 and 1996 before becoming a full time artist in 1996. One of Nigeria`s most popular artists he is known for his large canvasses of equestrian and dancing scenes. His fascination with horses began after a visit to his wife`s family in northern Nigeria and for Ogiugo it is more than anything else the technical challenges of mastering his subject matter that inspires him. As this study reveals Ogiugo is first and foremost a draughtsman - his drawings are the foundation of his work.
Edosa Ogiugo has exhibited widely within Nigeria and more recently in London. Click here to view Catalogue
