Early silver gelatin print, mounted on card

Inscription on reverse:
'India-United Provinces - Allahabad. The world's biggest fair (Kumbh Mela). Sadhus, to show their powers of resistance to heat, sit within circles of smouldering cow dung which are intensely hot.'
