The Wynyard Park Owl and HRH The Prince of Wales Album, Oct 23rd 1896, the first page with a photograph of `Royal Guests and House Party at Wynyard` with correspondence between John Phillips, Photographic Artist, Belfast, Francis Knollys, private secretary to Edward Prince of Wales, and N W Apperley (probably the agent at Wynyard Park), half leather binding, 31.5 x 43cm. The correspondence relates to an owl that was shot at Wynyard Park. The photographer, Phillips, arranged to have the bird stuffed, and subsequently sent a photograph to the Prince of Wales, with an inscription stating that the Prince shot the owl. The Prince was most annoyed and a grovelling apology from the photographer followed!
