A WT Copeland earthenware tile, circa 1860, printed in brown with the portrait of Albert Richard Smith within a blue chinoiserie border, printed mark WT Copeland, 160 New Bond Street, London, rim tiny chips, 20cm, and a matching plate, similarly marked, 22.8cm (2). AR Smith (1816-60) wrote several novels including the hugely popular 'Christopher Tadpole', contributed to Punch and lectured at The Egyptian Hall where these souvenirs were on sale.
