In dieser Ausgabe findet sich das berühmte Zitat "Igitur his arbitrio victoriae relictis" (S. 354), mit dem Cardano seinen Vergleich der vier Weltreligionen beschließt und das ihm den Vorwurf der Häresie eintrug. In den folgenen Ausgaben wurde diese Stelle abgeändert. Die Holzschnitte mit geometrischen Figuren, chemischen Versuchsanordnungen, physikalischen Apparaturen etc. - Schönes, nur gelegentlich leicht gebräunt oder stockfleckiges Exemplar. Fourth edition, the second in folio. With woodcut portrait of the auther on verso of title and numerous woodcuts and diagrams. Includes Cardano's famous statement 'Igitur his arbitrio victoriae relictis' (p. 354) which was left out in subsequent editions. - Occasional light browning or foxing. A crisp copy in 18th cent. mottled calf gilt, somewhat rubbed and worn, joints a bit weak.
