Dwight D. Eisenhower autograph letter signed as 5-star General. Dating his letter 8 September [1945 from Frankfurt], one month after the atom bomb was dropped on Japan, he writes to his wife, Mamie: ''Darling...I made my trip to Brussels and went through a hectic day. More stuff for museums! Tomorrow I go to Berlin and two days later must go south for a conference with [General] McNarney. While gone I'll hope to get a chance to see Rome for an hour or so. Tonight [son] John is having dinner & spending the night with us. Whew! A whole parade of visitors and they keep coming! Just spent an hour with a Senator. I'm pushing today to get home early because I haven't seen John in 5-6 days. He and I always have a lot to talk about. Stack is making all my trips with me now, so as to give him a glimpse of Europe. He may not have long to stay, as he is really travelling. I've told him to get that waist line down!! He is got to do it if he wants to get into the Reg. Army. Well, my dear, here I go. I'll ask John why he has not written to you. All my love, Always your / Ike''. 2pp. letter on ruled stationery measures 8'' x 10.5''. Creasing and toning, especially to edges, else near fine.
