Royal ticket from 1832 in celebration of King George I's birthday. Printed ticket reads in full, ''Dumfries, 24 May 1832. / The Convener and Deacons of the Seven Incorporations of Dumfries, request the honor of [blank space] company in the Trades Hall, on the Evening of Monday, the 28th curt., to celebrate His Majesty's Birth-day. / To prevent confusion, the number is limited, and those not having their Tickets, will be refused admittance at the door. Not Transferable.'' Celebration is likely in honor of King George I, whose birth date fell on the day of the festivities in 1660. Measures 3.75'' x 2.5''. Notation to verso reads, ''Letters etc. found in the late Mr. Howatt's Repositories''. Toning and separation of front from verso, else near fine.
