First edition, first printing of ``Adventures of Huckleberry Finn`` by Mark Twain, with illustrations by E.W. Kimble. New York: Charles L. Webster and Co.: 1885. Of this beloved classic that became the wellspring of American literary fiction, Hemingway said of it, ``All modern American literature comes from just one book by Mark Twain called `Huckleberry Finn.``` All first edition, first print points present including: (1) The title page is a cancel (2) Copyright is listed as 1884 on the title page verso. (3) the Chapter 6 heading reads ``decided`` rather than ``decides`` on page 9; (4) ``Him and another man`` is listed incorrectly on the table of contents; (5) page 57, 11 lines from bottom, reads: ``with the was`` instead of ``with the saw``; (6) ``Heliotype Printing Co.`` imprint is present on frontis as is tablecloth underneath the bust of Twain; (7) on page 155, the second ``5`` of the pagination is in a different font; (8) The ``l`` is missing in ``Col.`` and the letter ``B`` is broken on line 7 on page 143; (9) Page 283 is a cancel; (10) Final leaf is a blank; (11) The tablecloth under a bust of Mark Twain is plainly visible in the frontispiece photograph. Measures 7`` x 8.25``. Occasional foxing and toning within. Slightly cocked with wear to cloth at front hinge, else near fine condition.
