The painting is in good condition, showing minor craquelure and some tiny stains. The frame shows several losses. There is a tear in the canvas in the sky area. The size of the painting is 81 x 121 cm, and the frame measures 108 x 150 cm.



Alfred Jensen (1859-1935)

After study trips to Africa, Australia and China, Alfred Jensen studied with Heinrich Leitner in Hamburg. From 1897, he continued his studies at the Academy in Kassel under the guidance of Emil Neumann. He then moved to Hamburg, where he worked as a professor at the School of Applied Arts. From early on, Jensen often went to sea and painted primarily seascapes. Some of his paintings are today part of collections of museums, including the Altona Museum in Hamburg and the museums of Bremerhaven and Kiel. (cko)

Das GemƤlde ist in einem guten Zustand mit leichtem CraquelĆ© und einigen Fleckchen. Der Rahmen zeigt mehrere Materialverluste. Im Himmelbereich ist ein Riss in der Leinwand. Die GemƤldemaƟe betragen 81 x 121 cm, und der Rahmen misst 108 x 150 cm.

Nach Studienreisen nach Afrika, Australien und China studierte Alfred Jensen bei Heinrich Leitner in Hamburg. Ab 1897 setzte er sein Studium an der Akademie in Kassel bei Emil Neumann fort. AnschlieƟend zog er nach Hamburg und war dort als Professor an der Kunstgewerbeschule tƤtig. Jensen fuhr bereits in jungen Jahren zur See und schuf vornehmlich MarinestĆ¼cke. Diese befinden sich heute teils in Museumssammlungen, etwa im Altonaer Museum in Hamburg sowie in den Museen von Bremerhaven und Kiel. (cko)
