The large-sized lithograph in colors is in very good condition. The image dimensions are 56 x 40 and the sheet measures 65.3 x 50.2 cm.

Marino Marini (1901-1980)

Marini started studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence in 1917. In 1928, he travelled to Paris, where he spent the following years and met the artists Giorgio de Chirico, Wassily Kandinsky, and Aristide Maillol. This is where he also met the two founders of the Avant-garde, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. A favorite subject of the Italian artist was the connection between horses and humans. Marini's most famous sculpture is the bronze ‘L'angelo della città’ [The angel of the city] in front of the entrance of the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni in Venice, where now is located the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Marino Marini (1901-1980)

Marini studierte ab 1917 Malerei und Bildhauerei an der Akademie der Künste in Florenz. Im Jahr 1928 erfolgte ein erster Aufenthalt in Paris, wo er sich in den folgenden Jahren immer wieder aufhielt und Künstler wie Giorgio de Chirico, Wassily Kandinsky und Aristide Maillol kennenlernte. Später traf er dort zudem auf Pablo Picasso und Georges Braque, die Begründer der Avantgarde. Ein beliebtes Thema des italienischen Künstlers war die Auseinandersetzung mit Pferd und Mensch – Marinis wohl bekannteste Skulptur ist die Bronze „L’angelo della città“ [Der Engel der Stadt] vor dem Eingang des Palazzo Venier dei Leoni in Venedig, der heute die Sammlung Peggy Guggenheim beherbergt.
